Practical & Economical Motoring: The Citroen C1 Hatchback

Do you live in a crowded city location? If so, you will doubtless loathe the idea of owning a car! As you know, it’s often hard to find parking spaces in the middle of busy cities. And, even when you do manage to find somewhere to park each day, getting your car into the space is another challenge you need to overcome!

People that own cars in the city also want vehicles that are easy to navigate through narrow streets. And they want models that offer a good blend of performance and fuel economy. It’s for those reasons that more people are turning to the Citroen C1. So, what is it about this car that people love?

Distinctive looks

When you first approach a Citroen C1 in the flesh, the primary thing you notice is the car’s styling. It’s designed for people that want to get seen in a trendy-looking vehicle. And there’s no doubt that the Citroen C1 oozes style and panache!

Some people say that the model is what you might call a “fashion car.” Something that’s bought by people where style matters. To a certain extent, that is true. But we need to remember that there is more to a car than just the way it looks! Yes, it offers fresh and vibrant styling. But it also provides a whole host of features to prospective buyers too.

Two engine choices

The latest Citroen C1 model comes with two engine choices:

  • 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol. 67 brake horsepower, 0-60 mph in 13.8 seconds. Fuel economy is 68 mpg combined, and CO2 emissions are 95 g/km; and
  • 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol. 80 brake horsepower, 0-60 mph in 10.6 seconds. Fuel economy is 65 mpg combined, and CO2 emissions are 99 g/km.

Both engines are bolted to a five-speed manual transmission. An automatic is available as an option on the 1.0-litre model. Make no mistake about it, the Citroen C1 offers good performance and fuel economy for city and suburban driving. Being someone that lived in a crowded city location, you will doubtless spend much of your time stuck in traffic.

Are you worried about the CO2 emissions that your car puts into the environment? If so, you can take comfort in the fact that the Citroen C1 has rather low emissions! Barbara from the Thames Motor Group says that the model offers the lowest emissions of any model in its class.

Easy to steer

One distinct feature of the latest Citroen C1 hatchback is its featherlight steering! We all know that it can sometimes be a pain to turn a heavy steering wheel when you’re stationary.

But the light steering in this car makes such a task easy. The light weight of the car also helps towards this task too.

Plenty of technology

Last, but not least, buyers of the Citroen C1 love the fact that the car is packed full of gadgets and technology as standard! For instance, there’s air conditioning and LED daytime running lights.

Some trim levels even have DAB digital radio. If you’re in the market for a small city car, I’d recommend putting the Citroen C1 at the top of your shortlist!
