The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta retains much of the 2014 design, but sees a subtle but well needed interior enhancement overhaul. With prices ranging from $14,990 to $32,790 there’s a Jetta that’s right for everyone. Long known for great trunk room, interior space and functionality, but uninspired design and performance, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, has been refined and updated from listening to what its customers want.
ENGINE & DRIVE
On the road, the 2015 VW Jetta drives with feeling and confidence. The solid frame provides a sense of security, while the handling and control instills confidence. The interior cabin is great at minimizing engine and exterior noises. Smooth handling and gear changes make for a relaxed ride for all passengers.
With enough power on hand when needed, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is a zippy ride while still keeping fuel consumption in check. Rated at 6.3 L/100km on the highway and 9.3 L/100km in the city, our combined city and highway test drive landed right in the middle at 8.4 L/100km.
INTERIOR & EXTERIOR DESIGN
The exterior of the 2015 VW Jetta remains relatively unchanged except for a subtle update to the front and rear ends giving the car a wider look. The crisper lines on the front and back, updated headlights and taillights with an overall squarer design give a sharper look to the exterior.
The biggest (and most welcome) changes to the Jetta for 2015 are seen in the interior design. The test model we drove was equipped with white leather and had a two tone white and black interior. The interior sees the addition of a piano black finish to the dash and steering wheel along with an overall upgrade in quality of materials. Although there are still some cheap looking plastic panels, they are well integrated into the better quality materials.
Some changes to the design include an updated more elegant temperature control section, a flat bottomed steering wheel with some piano black accents and recessed gauges with chrome trim for a more futuristic looking cockpit.
Although simple, the 2015 VW Jetta has a much more refined interior, with precise detail and a quality build. Overall the two tone interior made the mood bright and cheerful, while the chrome and piano black finishes added an air of luxury.
FINAL THOUGHTS
It’s great to see that Volkswagen has listened to criticisms and has added some character to the new 2015 Jetta. With a much more refined look, a smooth and responsive drive and very modest entry level pricing, I highly recommend taking a 2015 VW Jetta for a drive to see for yourself!
