Proportioned look of the 2015 Kia Sedona balances both style and functionality. Offering up the latest technology and conveniences all packaged into a well thought out and versatile vehicle. Overall, I found it a pleasure to drive and often times forgot I was driving a minivan!
ENGINE & DRIVE
The 2015 Kia Sedona provides an exceptional driving experience for both driver and passengers alike. The driver is rewarded with a 3.3L six cylinder engine outputting 276hp, paired to a 6 speed transmission for more than adequate power even with a full load of passengers and cargo. On the flip side the fuel economy does suffer, averaging 15.4 L/100km over our 250km combined city and highway test drive.
Inside the 2015 Sedona, the ride feels smooth, firm and measured making for pleasant and comfortable longer drives. The handling feels sturdy and reassuring and apart from the body sway and elevated seating position, the drive feels more like a car.
I highly recommend the 360 camera feature for the 2015 Sedona as it improves manoeuvrability and makes parking and reversing a breeze.
EXTERIOR
Beefy and robust exterior styling of the 2015 Kia Sedona is backed up by the power under the hood! Although the shape of the body is very much minivan, the large front grille, streamlined headlights and extensive use of black and chrome trim definitely sets it apart from other minivans on the market.
The dual power sliding side doors and a smart power rear lift gate that automatically opens when you stand next to it for 3 seconds with the key in your pocket are just two of the thoughtful features included on the 2015 Kia Sedona. I would have liked to see a button up front for the driver to remotely open the side doors, but at least the key fob has this option for the side doors on both sides.
INTERIOR
Spacious and extensively functional interior of the 2015 Kia Sedona offers your choice of seating for 7 or 8 passengers. The 7 seat version offers 2nd row reclining captain’s chairs with dual armrests and a pop out foot rest, making the second row seating more plush and comfortable than the front!
Adding to the list of thoughtful features are the 3 zone climate control, dual sunroofs for front and rear, 115V outlets in the rear and center console, cooling glove box and 2nd and 3rd row sun shades.
The third row seats fold flat, while second row seats fold upright and lock in place while being able to slide forwards, backwards and sideways for maximum versatility.
I also found the two tone leather matched with the two tone interior materials of exquisite quality giving a very refined look.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The 2015 Kia Sedona is offered in many different models with a few available options as well. You can find the well equipped base version Sedona L priced at $27,495, while the top of the line Sedona SXL+ is offered at $45,995. I would classify the Sedona base model L as a mid level minivan as most options that are included as standard are extra charge options in other comparables. You will be hard pressed to find a better top of the line minivan than the Sedona SXL+.
