2013 Volkswagen Passat Review

The 2013 Volkswagen Passat provides comfort, style, great fuel efficiency and comes with a reasonable price tag. In the last week I have fallen in love with this car’s luxury, space and fuel economy – all of which cannot be seen at first glance.  The 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI can boast of being the only clean burning diesel engine in its class. With all of the positives in this automobile, going green has never been so easy.

2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT FEATURES

Available in standard or automatic (with manual shifting), the 2013 VW Passat TDI services both the more serious driver as well as the casual everyday driver.  The manual will lead to better fuel efficiency, however the automatic still offers over 1100 kms per tank. With the price of fuel these days, the efficiency of the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI allows for welcomed savings. The turbocharged diesel engine provides powerful torque at lower RPM’s for faster acceleration with heavier loads. However, the other side of the story is that overtaking on the highway at high speeds can be sluggish (with lower power at higher RPMs).Unlike many other car brands, the in-dash navigation system is easy to use, simple to understand and it is trusting enough in the driver to not lock out option selection while the vehicle is in motion.

The AdBlue feature, standard in every diesel engine made by Volkswagen, serves to reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions. Volkswagen has long offered a diesel engine for their cars and this is evident in the continual refinement of their technology. Volkswagen diesel engines are constantly outputting more power at better fuel economies than the previous model. The fuel economy for the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI shows an average consumption of 4.4 L/100km on the highway and 6.8 L/100km in the city.

COMFORT & STYLE

2013 Volkswagen Passat Interior

After fuel efficiency, comfort and space are the biggest standouts for the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI. Space is abundant in the new Passat as it can (with ease) seat five adults with plenty of legroom to spare. The leather seats are comfy and spacious and before driving the 2013 VW Passat TDI, I had only experienced this kind of comfort in SUVs.

The interior design provides a classy, simple and clean look that many of the competitors seem to have missed based on their saturation of buttons and dials.

Starting at $29,675 the Passat is well priced and simply stated; the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI is one of the best green vehicles available. All the comfort of a large gas guzzling SUV with fuel efficiency found only in hybrids. Suitable for any individual, couple or family, the classy design makes it appealing to all audiences. The 2013 VW Passat TDI is one green option that’s not only good for the environment, it’s also good for your wallet.
