2019 Infiniti Q60 Review

The market for two door luxury coupes is somewhat limited for choice. There are offerings from the typical luxury car manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lexus, but what do you choose if you want to stand out from the crowd a little and move away from the most popular brands out there?

The luxury arm of Nissan, otherwise known as Infiniti is less common, but their 2019 Infiniti Q60 luxury coupe aims to eat away at the sales of its German and Japanese competitors. The first version of the Q60 was originally known as the G Coupe when it was launched in 2012. Then, following a rebrand, the Q60 received its new badge and a number of important updates making it a vital model for the manufacturer.

HEAD-TURNING EXTERIOR

The 2019 Infiniti Q60 has a sleek yet refined exterior design, which has been given the Infiniti corporate front end, featuring a beautifully crafted mesh grille with stunning thick chrome surround helping it stand out from most other cars in this sector. Sleek, stylish headlights elegantly wrap themselves around the corner of the car with striking daytime running lights make the 2019 Q60 look like it means business.

Because of the long, contoured bonnet, you almost expect it to be an equally long car – but as you move around the back, the two-door set up makes it short but well proportioned. It’s obvious the 2019 Q60 has been designed with aerodynamics as a number one priority – side air vents aid wind flow down the side of the car while wide wheel arches and a rear spoiler help to increase driving performance. The window line is finished with a sharp edge to the rear of the car giving it the appearance of motion and speed.

MODERN INTERIOR

The wow factor certainly doesn’t stop on the outside of the 2019 Infiniti Q60. As soon as you open the long doors you’ll be greeted by two body hugging, soft, beautifully stitched leather seats. These plush yet supportive seats are great at keeping bodies from swaying in turns as well as keeping passengers comfortable for longer drives.

A multi-function steering wheel allows the driver to change almost every setting on the car via the small digital display in between the exceptionally detailed dials. The centre column has two large digital touch screen displays – one for infotainment such as audio and navigation, and the other for climate settings.

Every level, switch and button inside the 2019 Q60 screams quality – almost on par with its Lexus competitors. Effort is obviously made to use good quality materials throughout the cabin, even down to some nice soft touch fabrics. Even the rear seats are plush and supportive, but don’t expect much leg room as these should only be used for emergency people transporting.

AGGRESSIVE PERFORMANCE

Pressing the lit up start/stop button fires up a feisty twin-turbo 3.0L V6 engine with an encouraging and pleasing-to-the-ears exhaust note to match. Producing a toe curling 300hp you certainly won’t be disappointed with the Q60 when you start putting it through its paces.

For more enthusiastic drivers, the range topping I-LINE Red Sport all-wheel drive version will deliver a whopping 400hp paired with AWD. Using the variety of driving modes via the centre column, you’ll be sure to receive the most exciting drive.

Safety comes from a numerous driving technology features like forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard and predictive forward collision warning. Even a rear collision intervention system with cross traffic alert is included as standard.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The 2019 Infiniti Q60 range is quite hard to beat when you look at the full package of luxury, performance and design that it offers. It’s a real driver’s car with pedigree, quality and performance that would delight any spirited driver. Starting at $53,785 and ranging up to $65,295 for the top-of-the-range I-LINE version, there’s a lot of quality, technology and engineering packed into this sleek and petite coupe.
